“A reason this home is so highly rated. Incredible spot: luxury home, clean, well appointed, amazing views. Host was extremely proactive and flexible with outstanding communication. 10/10 experience overall.”
Cloud 9 sits secluded on a mountaintop in Pisgah National Forest, twenty-five minutes from downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Clouds drift past floor-to-ceiling windows. The Japanese cedar soaking tub steams on the terrace. The Blue Ridge Parkway begins just a few miles down the road.
If you found us through the Staycation episode, this is the house you watched: one home on a mountaintop at roughly 3,500 feet, with the valley folded out below the windows.
The road up is paved and it switchbacks, and then it ends at a private gated mountain community in the Blue Ridge. Mornings here start slowly. Mist moves through the valley while the Nespresso warms up and someone claims the chair by the floor-to-ceiling windows. By ten the clouds have usually dropped below the deck, which is how the house got its name.
Afternoons belong to the terrace. There is a Weber grill, a long table, a fire pit for later, and a Japanese cedar soaking tub facing the ridgelines. Downstairs, the music lounge holds a baby grand piano and a vintage record player, a nod to the songwriter who lived here before. Evenings end with the gas fireplace lit under vaulted beams, or with a movie thrown onto the projector screen on the balcony while the stars come out over Pisgah National Forest.
Downtown Asheville, North Carolina is twenty-five minutes down the mountain when you want restaurants and breweries. Most guests find they go once, then stay put.

A four-person cedar soaking tub on the back terrace, open all year and all hours, pointed straight at the ridgelines.

The gas fireplace draws everyone in after dark, with clouds still drifting past the floor-to-ceiling windows behind you.

An outdoor projector and screen turn the main-level balcony into a theater under the stars, with the valley as the back wall.

Deep soaking tub, walk-in rain shower, dual vanity, mountain views from the water, and two Turkish robes waiting on the hook.

Gas range, full cook's kit, and a coffee bench with a Nespresso, a De'Longhi espresso and drip setup, and a French press with local Asheville beans.

A baby grand piano, an acoustic guitar, a hand drum and a vintage record player downstairs, in a room built by the songwriter who lived here.
Cloud 9 stands alone at roughly 3,500 feet inside a private gated mountain community, with no shared walls, no shared drive, and no neighbors in the view.
Guests and locals alike have called these the best mountain views in Western North Carolina, and the sunrises are the reason people rebook for the same week.
The Blue Ridge Parkway starts five miles from the driveway, so an overlook picnic is a spur-of-the-moment decision rather than a day trip.
Two dogs up to 40 pounds each are welcome for a flat pet fee, with acres of quiet ground outside and a house that is used to muddy paws.
Lightning-fast Starlink internet and a dedicated workspace mean a Monday here costs you nothing, which is how a long weekend becomes a long stay.
Cloud 9 ranks in the top one percent of homes on Airbnb for ratings, reviews and reliability, across 298 stays and counting.
Early to mid October peaks up here, and those dates are usually claimed by summer. Check what is still open.

Book Your StayCandler puts you between two worlds: Pisgah National Forest out the back door, and the restaurants, breweries and galleries of Asheville, North Carolina a short drive down the mountain.
America's most beautiful drive begins five miles down the mountain, where the ridgelines stack up blue on blue and every overlook asks you to pull over.
Two hundred and fifty rooms of Gilded Age excess, walled gardens, and a winery at the end of the tour, half an hour from your own quiet mountain door.
Art deco storefronts, buskers on Lexington Avenue, and old riverside warehouses turned studios where you can watch a potter throw a bowl before dinner.
A five block main street with rocking chairs on the sidewalk, a bakery worth the wait, and the Seven Sisters ridge watching over all of it.
The highest ground east of the Mississippi, where spruce and fir close in, the air drops ten degrees, and the summit deck opens onto a hundred miles of mountains.
The most visited national park in the country, where morning fog pours off the ridges like smoke and elk graze the valley floor at dusk.
Elevation changes the calendar. Spring arrives here a couple of weeks after it reaches Asheville, summer stays ten degrees kinder than the valley, and autumn color climbs down the ridge instead of up it. Whatever week you pick, the view out the floor-to-ceiling windows is doing something different.
Trilliums and flame azalea come up the mountain in waves, and every waterfall in Pisgah National Forest runs hard with snowmelt and spring rain.
Paddle the French Broad River in the morning, zipline through the canopy in the afternoon, then come back up the mountain where the evenings run cool.
At this elevation the leaves turn early, usually early to mid October, and the Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks a few miles away are the best seats in Western North Carolina.
Bare ridgelines, long views, and mornings when the valley fills with cloud below the deck. Bring an AWD vehicle and stay by the fire.
Fall is the season that books out first, and at 3,500 feet the color peaks before the rest of the region catches up.
